We decorate cookies to look like celebrities or people we know. We never keep what we get each other secret. And we *always* sleep on the couches by the tree on Christmas Eve. Okay that's all. Bye. :)Charityhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04290740555574464189noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5157829453707942005.post-68049317479135633472010-12-20T23:27:03.375-05:002010-12-20T23:27:03.375-05:00Hi Natalie,
One of my favorite Christmas tradition...Hi Natalie,
One of my favorite Christmas traditions is what we call the advent boxes. Every evening after we do our advent reading for the season, we have three boxes. One box is want, one box is need, and the third is something to give to Jesus. My sisters and I all write something for each box on slips of paper, and stick them in the box. At the beginning of the season the next year, we get them out and read them. It's fun to see the different things that were important to us at the time. One year, my little sister said she wanted to give Jesus some jellybeans.

Hope you're having a great Christmas season!

AlyssaAlyssahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03552538595954090012noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5157829453707942005.post-86744936313308463662010-12-20T20:00:10.338-05:002010-12-20T20:00:10.338-05:00My favorite holiday traditions are driving around ...My favorite holiday traditions are driving around looking at the beautiful lights and spending time with my family. My family loves decorating the tree with each of our own ornaments which each have their own stories and memories. After the tree is completely decorated, my dad, brother, and I lie on our backs and shimmy ourselves under the tree and look up at the lights. My dad always used to say that if you squint, the lights look prettier, like stars. So, every year we squint up at the lights while Manheim Steamroller plays in the background.

Another favorite Christmas tradition (because i could not pick between the two...) is Christmas morning. After we open our gifts, my family sits around the table and eats Christmas cookies together for breakfast as we sip either cider or milk from our hand-made Santa mugs.

Both traditions are very important to me. My family means the world to me and I love spending time with them, laughing and sharing life together.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16319033194744120334noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5157829453707942005.post-60971325213503390762010-12-20T15:04:58.723-05:002010-12-20T15:04:58.723-05:00My favorite holiday tradition is playing the Kenny...My favorite holiday tradition is playing the Kenny Roger's Christmas record ALL DAY LONG!

ksmiley2[at]kent[dot]edunoseinanovelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10228019167075379913noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5157829453707942005.post-11938322789162460482010-12-20T14:46:44.081-05:002010-12-20T14:46:44.081-05:00My husband and I started a new tradition when we g...My husband and I started a new tradition when we got married. Mainly we eat, as the name implies. :) In December we also have an ornament exchange, the number-drawing/stealing ornament type of exchange! Fun times. My son says getting socks in their stockings is a tradition, too, however I refer to that as a money-saving policy. When they were little, the socks filled the stocking half full before adding candy. Now they provide padding for the itunes cards, etc.!Sandy Hnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5157829453707942005.post-11053811901439715522010-12-19T23:27:11.195-05:002010-12-19T23:27:11.195-05:00Merry Christmas Natalie!

We started a quirky holiday tradition our first year in this country. Since it's hard for us to get certain ingredients for Christmas goodies here, we order pizza on Christmas day! In the afternoon we all watch movies together and munch on pizza. Some years my mom even puts Dr. Pepper in our stockings (it's a special treat since it's expensive and hard to find here) to drink with our pizza. :)Frannienoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5157829453707942005.post-4264257235414654102010-12-19T12:21:06.155-05:002010-12-19T12:21:06.155-05:00At Christmastime, my house is full magic and good ...At Christmastime, my house is full magic and good madness. I love the way my mom bakes too many gingerbread cookies. I love my dad's sneaky grin as he hangs tacky ornaments on the tree (when my mom's back is turned, of course.) I love when Charlie Brown comes on TV and the rendition of "Silent Night" at the end. I love everything about celebrating the holidays, but this year, I am especially excited about giving Jesus the extravagant praise he deserves- on His "birthday" and every day.

I wish I could tell you the number of times one of your posts has made me cry or giggle or sigh contentedly. You inspire me to love Jesus in such a big, big way, and that gift is even more beautiful than pink cheeks or rosy windows or the quiet glow of candlelight on the snow. The tradition of eating tamales on Chris...Tamales! The tradition of eating tamales on Christmas Eve has been in my family for generations. My grandmother’s are the best (just ask anyone in town) and her secret recipe is being passed down to me. I still have a lot to learn about (the back breaking, time consuming work of) making tamales, but every year I get promoted in the assembly line. This may be the last year my grandmother will be able to make tamales (we made 37 dozen today!) and it is my goal to keep this important tradition from being lost. Although I am the only one of my generation brave enough to learn, I will continue the tamale making tradition for as long as I can still eat!Janaehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02495631376021023923noreply@blogger.com
