news & events

I'll be at a few events in 2014 to share a bit about A Snicker of Magic. At most of these, I'll be the short girl with the kicky drawl, hanging out with the Scholastics. And, let's just be honest, if there's chocolate, I'll probably be hanging out wherever that's at, too. If you're there and we bump into each other at the vending machine, I hope you'll say hello!

These dates are always subject to change just slightly. If you have any questions about an upcoming event, please email my publicist at Scholastic, Sheila Marie Everett, at severett (at) scholastic (dot) com. For information about booking school, skype, and conference visits please contact AuthorVisit (at) scholastic (dot) com. Thanks for your interest in the book!

Updates

* A Snicker of Magic is the Hicklebee's Spring 2014 Book of the Year!

* Felicity Pickle is in the New York Times!!!! In her review, Elisabeth Egan calls A Snicker of Magic "whimsical and bewitching"! Read the full review here.

* KidsReads.com was kind enough to invite me over for an interview. I got to talk about my dog, my cowboy boots and ice cream. So fun! Click here if you'd like to read.

* Beth Shaum interviewed me on her blog, and I shared a picture of one of the places that inspired Midnight Gulch. Click here to see.

* A Snicker of Magic was reviewed on The Nerdy Book Club blog! This nerd *points to self* is so grateful for those sweet Nerdies and all they do! Click HERE for the full review.

* Publishers Weekly gave A Snicker of Magic a STARRED REVIEW! Their thoughts: From every angle, Lloyd’s first novel sparkles and radiates warmth ... a reassuring, homespun story about self-expression and the magic that resides in one’s mind and heart." My thoughts: SPINDIDDLY!!!!

* Shelf Awareness gave A Snicker of Magic a lovely STARRED review that made me cry (in a good way!) saying,  "In this spellbinding debut novel set in Tennessee, Felicity Juniper Pickle sees magic in the people around her, and her world view is curiously contagious." I am over the moon! Thank you!

* SIBA named Felicity, Jonah & Co. an Okra Pick for Winter 2014! I am plumb thrilled!!

* School Library Journal gave A Snicker of Magic a starred review! They called it "a delightful and inspiring debut." WHOA! Day Grissom might have to help Aunt Cleo up off the floor after that.

* Felicity has a voice! Scholastic will release the audio version of Snicker, narrated by Cassandra Lee Morris, on 3/14!

* A Snicker of Magic got a starred review from Kirkus! SPINDIDDLY!

* Felicity has a swanky jacket! The cover of A Snicker of Magic was illustrated by the crazy-talented Gilbert Ford. You can read about Gilbert's comments about the cover here on his blog. And here's his Facebook page, if you'd like to follow his work.

* A Snicker of Magic can be pre-ordered on IndieBound, Amazon and Barnes & Noble!

*ASoM is up on Goodreads! Add it to your virtual shelf, and eat some virtual ice cream while you're at it. (Or don't. Just the thought of virtual ice cream is quite sad, I think.)

* The Pickled Jalapeño is on the move! A Snicker of Magic will also be published in France, Italy and Germany! Bon Voyage, Miss Pickle!

*Felicity got a little nod in Publishers Weekly's 2014 Spring Previews!

*A Snicker of Magic will be published by Scholastic in Spring 2014! Here's the mention in Publishers Weekly!
